YP Bristol Portfolio

YP Bristol encourages the United Way of Bristol's partner agencies to apply for our services free of charge. We believe that although our community's needs are great, our enthusiasm and sense of service is far greater.

2013 - Launch of United Way of Bristol Social Media Outlets

In 2013, members of YP Bristol and interns from Virginia Intermont partnered with United Way of Bristol to reconfigure and re-strategize their approach to social media. By doing so, their audience quadrupled and outlet platforms doubled within one year. Utilizing social media has allowed the United Way of Bristol to continuously encourage, discuss, and engage citizens in volunteerism and civic engagement.

2013 United Way of Bristol Celebrity Bagging Event

In 2013, members of YP Bristol were asked to participate in the annual Celebrity Bagging Event, Hosted by Food City locations, this event allows community members from different walks of life to work side by side and share insight on community concerns. As a result of their volunteer bagging expertise, tips are recruited to help fund community initiatives. Intense competition is usually fueled by businesses and organizations betting on who will receive the most tips during a shift, as well as speedy bagging times for annual bragging rights.

2013- Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mountain Empire

Since 1949, the Boys and Girls Club of the Mountain Empire has been opening its doors year round to the community's children. Its vision has always changed with the needs of the children and their families. However, its mission of providing a positiive and safe place for kids to learn and express themselves while receiving mentoring through usefulness and belonging has remained the same. Close to 300 kids walk through their four facilities daily eagerly looking for this environment. In 2013, YP Bristol assisted in bringing Christmas joy into a young man's heart who endured hardships at home.

2014- Big Brothers Bigs Sisters of East TN "Bowl for Kids Event"

YP Bristol decided to follow BBBS' saying of "Start Something." We were asked to partner with Big Brother and Big Sisters of East TN  and SW VA this year to double last year's Bristol fundraising Bowl for Kids' Sake goal as well as build a broader outreach audience and market. By doing so, YP Bristol can ensure that Bigs and Littles can be paired up, more friendships can begin, and improved outlooks on life and the community can be started.
